What is the Central Committee?

The Central Committee, or SFGOP, is the official Republican Party of San Francisco. Every two years, during the primary election, Republicans elect 25 members to the Central Committee: 12 from the 13th Assembly District, and 13 from the 12th Assembly District.  The Central Committee is responsible for registering Republicans in San Francisco, and weighing in and taking action on San Francisco issues. The SFGOP represents all Republicans in San Francisco.

Why am I running?

For the past year, I have been an appointed member of the SFGOP, and served as its Vice-Chair of Communicatons. During that time, I have aggressively pursued the advancement of Republican ideals, both within the Committee and in the City. I have unapologetically appeared in local media, print and TV, to that end. The result has been sorely needed growth in our party. Republican registration is less than 10% in San Francisco. Currently, the SFGOP only has the ability to swing very close citywide ballot measures and elections. If we do not reverse our decline in registration, we will lose even that. So why am I running?

1) I want to grow the party and give Republicans a voice in the City. There is the year and election to do that.

2) There are 25 members of the committee. Less than 10 of those are active in actuaully growing the party. The rest of of the members are deadweight who need to go. They do not attend SFGOP events, they rarely participate in meetings, and they do not take their leadership role seriously. This election has many new candidates running for the Central Committee who are energized and want to get involved and grow the party. I want to help them get elected and remove the deadweight at the same time in order to improve our party.

3) I have no political training background. Everything I have done in the past two years has been because I am a regular guy who got angry and decided he was not going to sit on the sidelines. If I do not run, I am right where I do not want to be: sitting on the sidelines.

4) I plan on running a very cheap campaign. I will only spend $100 on this campaign. My campaign will focus on using new, free technologies to get the word out, combined with old fashioned handshaking, speaking to groups, and hopefully media attention. It is my hope that other Republicans with limited resources can look to this campaign for ideas.
